What do SFS members want?

Our membership is falling. Not everyone is renewing their membership.

So the SFS Committee decided to have a focus group and online survey to see what our members want.

You may be invited for the focus group or to complete a survey.

We really want to know how you feel about the SFS.

beginning with the discussion and this blog, what you guys are doing are really great attempts in helping SFS feels more like a Society. It's sad to hear that membership is falling, though I appreciate the frankness about this. I think in the end there needs to be a greater sense of ownership on the members' part, and also just more content and interaction that really help us all to better appreciate this wonderful medium of film.
Never too late. Some steps been taken. Keep it up.

hmmm didn't realise there was a survey until I saw the winners' list...
basically we find that SFS is starting to have more "dry" periods of screening commercial movies (like tonight's horror films).
the first year we signed up had more "artsy" films, vs the 2nd (05/06).
just curious if it's an evolution on the SFS side or is the industry really drying up, serious films-wise.
of course, we're not sure of the key objective of sfs being to screen any movie or just critically-acclaimed ones.
or, it could just be us skewing our own perceptions.
we're quite happy with all the contests and extra, 3rd party screenings though, and liked the marathons.
and the retail affiliations with pohkim is quite pointless as we signed up with sfs to watch shows on the BIG screen. :)
